Oasis Definitely Maybe
Voto:
"Definitely Maybe" is an amazing album, better than all the Pearl Jam albums put together, period.

Look, britpop was the last mass musical movement that came out of independent music... and socially speaking, almost all its representatives came from the lower middle class, not to say the proletariat. It was a "human-scale" scene and musically delivered content like none that followed. With britpop bands, I discovered the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, the Who, and the Smiths, and a hundred others. I don't know how much great music you can discover if you listen to Linkin Park. Read the lyrics of "Parklife" by Blur: they seem to me anything but mere tunes written for teenagers that glorify Great Britain. If only there were people today like Damon Albarn or Brett Anderson who became teenage idols... now we have Costantino, or the Blue...

Towards the end of the '90s, MTV was an original and bold network, I would dare to say almost experimental at times. I’m referring to the golden age of Andrea Pezzi, Morgan, etc. Not to mention MTV UK, which was a completely different thing compared to the American version, filled with teen idols and bland R'n'B "geniuses." Now MTV Italia has become a branch of the U.S. one, with all those local versions of programs like TRL, Dance, etc., but I believe it’s the youth audience that has changed. Now there's the myth of Grande Fratello or Amici, and as a result, MTV has adapted. However, on satellite, MTV Brand:New is an excellent channel, where there's no risk of encountering Usher.

There is something that might attract me to these renegade anarchists and guerrillas, but I’ve been to Spain and 90% of the independent bands sound like them. In my opinion, it’s a reaction to the heavy atmosphere that exists in that country, where religious oppression is felt much more strongly than in ours, and the overall economic condition is a bit worse than ours. That’s the reason for so many Iberian gypsy and vagabond groups taking a stand ā€œagainst,ā€ at least that’s how I see it. Musically, I’ll stick to my Specials and my Madness.

"I wish" is a good track, but if I were to childishly compile a personal "top 10" of Coxon's songs, it would be this: 1. A Day Is Far Too Long 2. Freakin' Out 3. Mountain Of Regrets 4. Jamie Thomas 5. That's When I Reach For My Revolver 6. That's All I Wanna Do 7. Keep Hope Alive 8. Bittersweet Bundle Of Misery 9. Fags & Failures 10. You Never Will Be
The Black Eyed Peas Elephunk
Voto:
Absolutely agree on Devon, on everything. The Black Eyed Peas are the epitome of lowbrow and tacky in the international pop scene. They make no sense, and I know the album is terrible because I listened to it. Crude, cheap, absolutely annoying. I even dislike them, especially the girl who sings, made worse by her atrocious taste in clothing.

In my opinion, Coxon's best album is the second one, "Golden D". Noise, indie pop, and hardcore mixed together in a lo-fi/comic book style.

I, I grew up on bread and Britpop. And I take pride in it... it was the most exciting time of the '90s.
