I don't like the review.
It's terrible in how it's written and in how it tries to destroy the album with too many clichés and various nonsense.
In my opinion, they have improved quite a bit since Cacatasolution in 2003. Some notable songs are City of Delusion, Hoodoo, and Map of Problematique. Even the single has, in my opinion, a great suffocating beat. Nothing exceptional, but it's a song that has a certain something that's captivating... it's hard not to be fascinated by it, even if I don't appreciate it as a genre.
Some attempts at electronics seem out of place and more dictated by a lack of ideas than by any alleged innovation.
So, it's a good album, better than Absolution, but certainly not a masterpiece that would make you tear your hair and clothes (unless it's due to the heat).

for certain critics, the best album is Tiziano Ferro's.
honestly, I trust the critics very little (at least those from the printed press). I think there are some really good critic sites on the web, and, as far as I know, Parachutes hasn't been considered one of the best albums of the year. Maybe one of the most successful, yes.
