Yngwie J. Malmsteen Odyssey

But what do we need to add to your esteemed nonsense, Alessandro Black Crypt? Look, many ignorant people might understand something more than you do, or do you think you've figured everything out in life? Here, it seems like the only one trying to mock is you, and the ignorance, my dear, is fully demonstrated only by you. I'm sorry, but it's impossible to have a dialogue with someone who makes comments like yours. By the way, "ha" is the conjugation of the verb "avere," and it is spelled with an H in front, word of the ignorant EH!!!!

It's a plausible explanation; in fact, the orchestral album brings him back to a more genuine and '80s sound! I had attributed this change to the latest pickups, the Di Marzio HS3, but I’m not sure if he was using them back in the days of Alcatrazz and Trilogy; perhaps they didn't even exist as a model yet!

About Uli Roth, if you're interested, download the Sky Overture, it's extraordinary: go to the website www.ulijonroth.com, in the archives section. It takes a while to download, but believe me, it’s worth it. Let me know what you think, okay? Bye.

It may be, but superficial or not, Romeo is exactly that, with more Yngwie Malmsteen effects and obviously infinitely less talent, at least for me. I’m less critical of Petrucci, because although I’m not particularly drawn to him, he is original, has a defined style, and I didn’t say he lacks feeling; he simply doesn’t show it often. I believe his goal is primarily to showcase the technical aspect, to display his skill in alternate picking. However, at the G3, he didn’t make a great impression; his "personality" is greatly overshadowed compared to Vai and Satriani.

Hi Enrico, heartfelt congratulations on the review, you never miss a beat!! When you can, let me know what you think of House of Lords, especially their very first album produced by Gene Simmons. Don't you think they were a remarkable band? In your opinion, do they deserve a review? Who knows...maybe I've even given you a good idea, this is your field!! See you soon and truly great job!

I really can't see that big personality in Romeo; to have it, you need to be original, and he merely clones Malmsteen in a banal way. As for the feeling, it doesn't seem to me that Mr. Plectrum and Romeo show it much. Just listen to Uli Roth; he truly has personality to spare, technique, and great feeling, not to mention always citing Hendrix.

Hi Marco! You know I'm studying some new reviews, you'll see me performing again soon! Regarding Malmsteen, you can be more precise than me since I just noodle around, while you seem to play his pieces as well, so you’re much more knowledgeable. I have this feeling: if you take the Alcatrazz videos (pretty cool, right?) and the tracks up to Trilogy, they have a very clean, crystal-clear sound that reminds me a lot of Blackmore. Don’t you think he has changed his sound compared to the early years? He seems to use many more effects to pump the notes, all while maintaining the same speed. I had read that he uses a booster, but I have one at home and it doesn’t give me that sound. Can you tell me if he has changed his effects from '84-'86 to today?

Eh, I’m almost double your age, Ronnie. How beautiful is youth, which nevertheless flees!! Twelve years ago, I was even more into music than I am today. I was 17, and that concert in Genoa was a real event for me, especially since there were only a few dates. Satriani actually went just to promote The Extremist; I don’t think he ever intended to join the lineup with Deep Purple!

It's a shame it's the last one because I find it extremely successful, even in terms of sound. I'm convinced that we could have continued very well down this path.

a really beautiful and engaging album, AOR or not this is a great band, too bad they didn’t continue on the paths of Stranger in us all
