"wonderful gestures"? I find that there is a lot of hypocrisy in these humanitarian rockstars, and that they do it mostly for personal gain, for the publicity they receive, for the way in which the media constantly puts them in the spotlight. I believe no marketing genius could surpass them.
Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral

This album is definitely a classic; whether it deserves a 4 or a 5 is a matter of personal opinion. Reznor's sound solutions are lively and vibrant enough to leave a mark: he may not have invented them all, but few have created such a wholly organic and varied work. As for the themes addressed: I've never been particularly captivated by Reznor's angst; the lyrics at times seem a bit contrived ("Your god is dead and no one cares" is symptomatic), there’s always a bit of that vibe of "I've been sent to earth to fight God" (alec empire dixit). I was much more struck by the lyrics of "the fragile." It's still a fundamental record. A beautiful and complete review, even if it slightly edges into hagiography.
Neil Young Mirror Ball

Not expired at all; after Zuma he produced two more masterpieces like "American Stars and Bars" and especially "Rust Never Sleeps"... not to mention the resurgence during the grunge era. This is perhaps the last of the great albums made; since then, he's been on autopilot for a bit. "Scenery" is spine-chilling.

pardon 4 for the review

Very good review, but it's a poignant record, an absolute 5, for the way Courtney transcends her historical period and transforms her existential sorrows into Art. Unfortunately, what she did afterwards is pure trash.
The Police Synchronicity

Bernardi, I hope that at least Carpentiere pays you for doing his defense work... the review is certainly well-written, but in terms of content, it seems to recycle the same things that have been read about the Police for 20 years without much creativity. So I didn't like it! Bye!
