I agree with Flood :) PS - Ah, the old Corbijn videos (for the DM)

defining Gabriel as questionable in his LPs "3", "4", "so" (okay, "so" is more commercial) and the soundtracks seems to overlook the innovativeness of the sound solutions used in the 80s (Simple Minds, before selling out, were VERY influenced by Gabriel): that very tribal sound (without cymbals) and edgy vibe can be found in Gabriel III and not many other artists at the time (as for the "underground," I don't know much about it, and I believe there is really a lot of it).

But big Paul Ferguson hasn't been playing with the KJ since 1990?

Mmm, I don’t know, “I feel loved” has always seemed a bit cheesy to me. But "Exciter" does have its merits: it’s less “polished” than other productions. Let me give you an example: do you remember “A Question of Lust” in “Black Celebration”? Well, that’s really a big ballad with pompous keyboards, to be honest. Instead, the “flood mix,” present on the 2004 triple remix album (3 discs), is more stripped-down and electronic, highlighting some pop-industrial inserts, samplings, etc., much better. Personally, I’ve started to prefer the more “bastard” tracks by DM since I began paying attention to Jaz Coleman and the gang. And I must admit that Wilder’s slightly more experimental contribution balanced Gore’s pop very well. BC could have been even better. "Exciter"... what can you do, it has tracks that you can only explain with some crazy inspiration. In reality, a couple of smash hits like “Enjoy the Silence” placed a third and two-thirds into the tracklist would have given “strength” to the rest. It wouldn’t have taken much; no need to throw everything away.

ege, but is it instrumental? From what you write, it seems like an album with a rather "weird" sound, which is quite intriguing.
Ultravox Ha! Ha! Ha!

Better Midge Ure in Ultravox than doing that filth with Visage. And then "Lament" is a great album, really.

In addition to the tracks, this record has a great sound. Dark in just the right way.

I know they started by covering Depeche Mode. From the two famous singles, YOU CAN HEAR IT ALL.

The single "supermassive etc." doesn't really tell me a damn thing. They sound like Visage in the 2000s in that video, with the same type of sound and little substance, and above all a more unbearable voice (Midge Ure at least has a nice voice. Thankfully, he told Steve Strange to fuck off and joined Currie in Ultravox).

Great review for an album that piques my curiosity. Especially the contrast between "light music - biting lyrics," I could learn a thing or two (I used to write occasionally). Unfortunately, there are no samples on Amazon.
