The 1960s were running when Clem Sacco, an Italian-Egyptian singer-songwriter, was sentenced for singing in public "Il Deficiente," a humorous and ironic song, perhaps a bit too much for those times.
Yes, I use the words "those times" to indicate a "distant" period, because 40 years are nothing for history, but they are a lot, an eternity, for the music world. Probably the Bloodhound Gang would have been condemned to the stake after the release of "The Bad Touch" because here there is no irony, nothing implicit, everything is clear, explicit, and circumcised. Who among us has never hummed it? Everyone! From prisoners to priests, but few, too few have asked themselves: "but what does this hit mean...?"
The American group, known for their way too stupid lyrics, seasoned with absurd and often obscene humor, straddling the second and third millennia, literally smashed it with "The Bad Touch". A rhythm that is nothing short of overwhelming, lyrics that are nothing short of transgressive, but it doesn’t matter because the important thing is to open your ears and let yourself be carried away by the melody that has characterized the "absurd" electronic music of the last decade the most. Danced everywhere, sung everywhere, it destroyed the charts on two continents (Europe and America). It doesn't matter much if the chorus says: "You and me baby ain’t nothin’ but mammals So let’s do it like they do on the Discovery Channel"; and what will it mean? Only the "dirty" Americans and the "very educated and super-serious" British will have understood it; "you and me nothing but mammals, so let's do it like they do on Discovery Channel".
I know some of you will get chills, "oh my god! Have I been singing this piece for 5 years repeating this phrase!?" Yes, that's just how it is, but the spirit of the Bloodhound Gang is just that, to entertain and astonish with the utmost carefreeness, arrogance, and comedy possible. From prisoners to priests, whether you want it or not, you've sung it, and you even liked it! Anyway, the meaning of this song is easily recognizable, just take a look at the single's cover and the video, featuring the band with alien costumes, trying out sexual techniques. 5 years later, "Hefty Fine" will be released, a SLIGHTLY more mature album, which besides humorous and sexually suggestive tracks like F.U.C.K. and Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss, includes more serious songs with high-level collaborations (Him among all).
A good CD, but the masterpiece single "The Bad Touch," is difficult, impossible to reach, and perhaps it's better that way. Now you understand why degenerate: Absurd? "The Bad Touch" in history? Probably yes.
