a review that piques my curiosity; I had never actually listened to bossa-reggae.

Great review as usual, Symbad. Speaking of Scandinavian jazzmen, do you happen to know Jan Johansson (I think from the 50s or 60s)? He created a beautiful synthesis between Swedish folk music and jazz, truly enchanting.

@Mr. Green Genes: I wrote this review mainly to get some tips about the music of Cape Verde and on some other albums by Horace Silver from people who frequent this site. I certainly don’t consider myself an expert on Horace Silver or jazz. When I mentioned that sometimes jazz veers into self-indulgent solos, I intentionally refrained from naming names to avoid offending anyone's tastes, so who knows, maybe I was referring precisely to what you call "bad jazz." Jazz is a genre; there's good jazz and bad jazz, just as there's good rock and bad rock, good tarantella and bad tarantella. Regarding the balance between composition and improvisation, for me, it's an essential concept, hence my passion for John Zorn and Duke Ellington. I believe that the composer must work hand in hand with the improvising musicians, leveraging their strengths and weaknesses, if you will.
@Odradek, for me, Zorn and Ornette are not at all chaotic but rather the natural continuation in complexity of a Horace Silver album. It may not be a widely shared opinion, but it's what I think.

Thank you all for the comments and the advice. So, the Cape Verdean Morna is related to Fado, interesting. I don't know Cesaria Evora; I think I'll look for something. Indeed, dear Symbad, I am now a "addicted" to jazz and my debut is quite young, only 7-8 years of listening and 2 of playing around with it. Bye.
Marc Johnson The Sound Of Summer Running

Very interesting, I think I really need to research more about Marc Johnson. I had listened to his bass desiring (the album "Bass Desires") and found it quite enjoyable. Is this similar?

sounds interesting... do you happen to know the "Aires Tango"? They had released a CD with the newspaper "Il Manifesto" and it was really nice.
Caetano Veloso Estrangeiro

I think the title track is incredibly beautiful, it gives me chills even though I don't understand the lyrics. And that's the main problem when I listen to Caetano. "A Foreign Sound" is not at all his best work, even though it’s not bad at all. The symbol above the cow fits in really well, it adds a tone to the atmosphere.

Indeed, this is quite lovely, I agree with you, a very relaxing listen.
