Luis Buñuel Un Chien Andalou

schizophrenia of exquisite quality. And to think it was 1929. The opening sequence is perhaps the most disturbing of the entire history of cinema.
John Zorn Filmworks XIX - The Rain Horse

Nothing special, it’s not crazy, it’s not innovative, after all, it’s always the same old stuff, I’ve heard dozens of them. But this one is truly enchanting.

This is actually a (clumsily executed) vampire movie, where beneath the wooden guise of Jesus Christ lies a reincarnation of Dracula who vampirizes the poor little kid. I remember it thoroughly pissed me off as a child.
Michel Gondry Be kind rewind

a half-assed movie, by all means original, but it still remains a half-assed film.
João Gilberto The Legendary João Gilberto

Truly huge, even better than Amoroso/brasil ae and Getz/Gilberto... thanks for the tip.
Giuseppe Verdi Traviata

an exaggerated review of a genre of music that I usually snub... what can I say, Verdi usually gives me ear hives, but your review makes it almost likable.

The only sentence I completely disagree with is: "half obscenity of (a future) Luttazzi." Luttazzi is still a great comedian, no doubt about it.
Neil Gaiman, Chris Bachalo, Mark Buckingham, Dave McKean Death: L'Alto Costo della Vita (Death: The High Cost of Living)

Sure, this is a brief parallel story of one of the seven eternals, Death. Sandman, on the other hand, focuses on Dream and, in my opinion, it’s by far the masterpiece of good old Neil. American Gods (which, if we want, is marginally connected to Sandman) is quite disappointing in comparison; for me, it was a big letdown...

a bit subdued compared to the 10 "official" volumes of the Sandman series, but still not bad
