I see that after Monk you're continuing the review of great jazz pianists... I've only listened to "Lennie Tristano/The New Tristano," a CD reissue of two albums, which is indeed remarkable. I'm quite interested in this one, especially since you say it's free jazz ante litteram; I'm curious.

Well done, Dante, I have this somewhere, but I can't remember it well. I need to listen to it again one of these days, Monk is great.

It's indeed a nice big page. These reinterpretations of classical music in a different key leave me a bit perplexed. On one hand, they remind me of Rondo' Veneziano on the kitsch side, but also Jacques Loussier Trio and the Modern Jazz Quartet on the jazz side; however, I've never been that crazy about them. Anyway, I need to listen to Caine more closely; I really enjoyed Book of Angel 6 with Zorn. I also liked the Dave Douglas Quintet, with Caine on piano, that I saw live about a year ago. Could you recommend something with Uri Caine as the leader, but not a reinterpretation of classical music?

Really good, I listened to it not long ago. "Frida" in particular is a great track.
