In fact, it's a "live" recording that took place in SEATTLE in 2001… Jazz? Nu Fusion? Labels are so boring!! It's a CD that is in a peripheral, yet stimulating land… Cross its gate, and you will realize that the rest is mud and water on which many have been soaked… and it smells a bit bad… Are you looking for sounds that ignite your reactivity with a psyche-jazz explosion that makes you forget sound assimilation? On one side, the skins, and the twirling toms, the aggressive snare drum and the clanging and sizzling cymbals of the great drummer DEJOHNETTE who also delights with the piano (listen to the seventh track "STORM CLOUDS AND MIST" to see … or rather hear for yourself) and on the other the mutating guitar and an unbelievable banjo sounding from other universes as only BILL can render it (listen for verification, to the second track "CAT AND MOUSE"). Et voilà! The alchemy is done… The unstoppable and urgent percussion and the usual alien guitar of FRISELL will take you where only imagination dares… An extraordinary work: to own and gift yourself or have someone gift it to you immediately… Try to let yourself be carried away and shaken by "OTHERWORLDLY DERVISHES"… What a bomb, guys!! I almost feel like inserting it as a sample… Do you deserve it? Hmm! Did you like and do you like "ART ENSEMBLE OF CHICAGO?"… Are you intrigued by the "griot d'Africa"? Well! This is the land and the humus that have generated this pirotechnic-musical sparkle…
