Vangelis Spiral
Voto:
Among Vangelis's "solo" albums, this is the one that fascinates me the most, for the contrast between the simplicity of the melodies and the complexity of the rhythmic solutions, quite evident in tracks like "3+3" (in my opinion one of the most brilliant by the Greek musician) and in the epic bolero "To the Unknown Man," made possible by the intelligent use of the sequencer. Notable are also "Spiral" (with a vaguely Morriconian atmosphere) and "Dervish D" (with jazz hints). "Ballad" is one of the few tracks where, albeit filtered, Vangelis's voice can be heard.

Well-written review, but the character and hip-hop in general repel me.

A fundamental album, where songwriting is infused with progressive elements. I didn't know that Alberto Camerini had collaborated on it. I can only evaluate the album halfway, as I am not familiar with the suite.

It looks like a fascinating job, right from the cover.

The last gasp of greatness from Alan Sorrenti, with lyrics that convey a conscious suffering: I particularly think of "Ma tu mi ascolti," which I believe is the best track on the album, effectively mixing pop, singer-songwriter sensibility, and experimentation. Then came the 45 RPM "Le tue radici," which in my opinion is his true swan song, featuring a chilling instrumental version. After that, it was just light tunes.

A record that shows a remarkable leap in quality compared to the previous "Piero Litaliano," certainly also due to the vicissitudes encountered over the years (see the references to his wife and children). The work by Marchetti is commendable, with arrangements that were very "ahead" for that time (I especially think of "Il giocatore").

Certainly an interesting booklet. You did well to talk about the ironic side of Area, which can also be found in some of their compositions (I think of "Acrostico in memoria di Laio" and "Vodka-Cola").

More than applause, judging by the cover, punches and slaps.
