Tortoise Millions Now Living Will Never Die...
Voto:
Certainly, "caposaldo" is a strong word...let's say one of the foundational works of the first generation of post-rock, but with prog...I think it has little to do with that; rather, I see it much closer to jazz...but I completely agree that these are discussions that are somewhat beside the point.

"I Tortoise don’t play songs, they paint pictures" ;) I totally agree...great review...but, like Zion, I prefer TNT.

I remember listening to it without it striking me particularly... maybe I'll put it back on...

I admit that music is subjective, and that everything is debatable. But there is a limit even to the relativism of thought. IGNORANCE IS FINE, BUT I WILL NOT TOLERATE STUPIDITY (especially when it's stuffed with arrogance).
Radiohead In Rainbows

I'm not talking about the album... I haven't listened to it even once in full. Anyway, I agree with telespallabob77... too many big words... and we're possibly talking about my favorite band, but "Radiohead are a thousand miles above everything and everyone" seems a bit exaggerated to me, even though it's unreasonable to belittle as easycure does. The revolution is there, indeed, even if there are critical aspects; they are the first band that had the courage to do what they have done (also because they obviously had the means): saying "it's too predictable that sooner or later some band would wake up and do something like this" is trying to be a smartass in defiance. Since the '90s, it's been said that the internet would bring changes in this sense, but no one had ever done it until now. They did it; they were the first, period. All those who want to mock and snub just for the pleasure of criticizing to elevate themselves above the crowd can go ahead... actions, not words, as they say... unlike those who just talk, Radiohead have done something that will very likely change a lot... the rest... just words...

Back then I saw them in the Barock in Catania. I went to see a band I liked, but nothing more. Instead, they blew me away, totally surprised me; they're amazing live, and Sonica was a total blast. Great, great Marlene. Too bad their last albums aren't that great.

A friend lent me Universal Hall by the Waterboys... and I remember there were beautiful tracks... then I didn't dig deeper into it... but I will get this album for sure. Congratulations on the review!
