Well, maybe yes, you have too easy tastes.. :-D the revivalism in all its forms makes me a bit sad. And then the comparison with the last decade seems to me that in any case doesn’t hold... even without limiting ourselves to the single album, there’s no genre/movement that has really established itself as such, so there’s no vanguard, we're in total stagnation if not in complete mediocrity, and I mean as an approach. The equation of hard + psychedelia holds because at least as a synthesis it’s one of the few still not delved into; citing it as a quality release of this period, at least from my point of view, is further proof of the scarcity of the period in question.

I don't really know how to think of one. Just to be clear here :-) I'm not saying I haven't listened to even one decent album, but I certainly haven't listened to the usual "loveless" or the usual "spiderland" or even, I don't know, the usual "ok computer." That's what I mean.

Let’s be clear, I'm going to approach this from a negative standpoint… I mean, honestly, I haven’t listened to a damn thing that was truly significant (and I really mean something with guts) in the last seven years, and instead, this is it.. frankly, even though they’re obviously not related at all, I find it to be distinctly better than an album like Lateralus, which seems a lot less courageous in comparison. It certainly has its flaws, it's mannered, sometimes self-referential, and it might not be an epoch-making album (don’t forget that I was the first to give it a 4), but it hits hard… much, much harder than the average of what’s served up as album of the month or year.

The group that impressed me the most lately, as per the review, has been Battles.. then I don’t know, old stuff, this decade is increasingly a musical mess: My Bloody Valentine always and forever, for example... I listened again to their EPs Tremolo and Glider, and there are some simply wonderful, incredible unreleased tracks.
