I have it in a bootleg whose name I can't even remember... live in London '70 or something like that... that version is beautiful.

Well, publisher.. I would say exactly the same things as you (without the need to see a conscious will for flattening) about Goo.. that’s really an involuted album.. I don’t understand how one could define "chic" a piece like Trilogy, or 'cross the breeze or Eric's trip. Moreover, it doesn’t seem to me at all that an album like Evol is less devoted to melody. On the contrary, it contains much more melodic episodes than the average of DN; just look at starpower or bubblegum. It’s just that we're talking about melody in the Sonic Youth way, it's never fully melody. But that DN is involuted compared to the past seems ridiculous to claim.. we could agree on the next two.

beautiful review, really beautiful. It’s worth more than a thousand sterile analyses of the piece played this way or that. Reading you, the voice of J Mascis came to mind more than anything else; I don’t know why, but it fits perfectly with your feelings...

maryg, you are absolutely right! What a slip of the tongue, I only realize it now :-D .. senmayan, um, I don't know if you saw the title, they played all of Daydream Nation, I only mentioned the tracks that struck me the most ;-) .. aside from that, for the umpteenth time, but who wants to prove the superiority of whom? About the Rolling Stones, really? It would be like shooting at the Red Cross by now :-D It's just noting a band that continues to be consistent after 25 years and another that, although commonly considered among the greatest "big" acts of all time, is only good for the Omnitel commercial (what infinite sadness!) My comment is merely a description, not an interpretation. After all, some choose to make a fool of themselves (for good) and some do not, and I prefer the latter. It's not my fault :-D

publisher, as far as I'm concerned, Daydream Nation is the masterpiece, but there's nothing from the '80s Sonic Youth canon that I consider less than excellent. Bad Moon Rising and Evol above all. However, their worst moment remains Goo-Dirty, but even in the '90s they were still kicking ass, and in recent years they are definitely worth listening to. In general, throughout the entire arc of rock, it's hard to find a band that has managed to create such a strong style that transcends (many) typical rock clichés; that's why in almost all their phases it's really difficult to say no to them. They are all variations on a theme that are at least interesting. X Ghemison; thank you for the comfort, so the photo is fine that way too ;-D

more "current"? Did I read that right? current??? Ah, well, if we consider that everyone today is doing a revival of the '60s or the '80s, then you might be right :-D ... no, seriously, how did you come up with that? ... anyway, I repeat: it’s far from my intention to turn this review into a (useless) polemic about the Rolling Stones... if there’s anyone who still sees them as not yet ready for retirement (or for immediate admission to a nursing home), then I apologize to them for my example. That way we cut to the chase.

Hello and thank you all! I didn't know that the reference (a purely example) to the Rolling Stones would spark so much controversy. I don't understand some people's indignation... why are the Rolling Stones still at least minimally credible? Do they have any artistic value? Do they have any credibility? Given that the answer to all of this is a resounding no with little room for subjective variability, my statement was definitely meant to be taken "en passant"... well, the whole "pharaohs"-"vizier" discourse is completely reversed for me, obviously. When looking at quality and importance, there is absolutely no room for any hypothetical comparison (considering the temporal difference) in this sense.
