THE REVIEW

Songs not too offbeat held together by a piano that serves as the rhythmic backbone of the group and guitars that indulge in a myriad of different styles, from surf to reggae, from Arabic influences to the most classic indie rock; a voice with a tone perhaps not original enough but supported by backing vocals that double/multiply it always effectively and by melodic lines almost always well-chosen.

Atmospheres that are at times smoky, light, languid, sometimes even danceable, but always with something dark added by that piano that holds up the whole affair: what I expect to hear when I go to the bar to drink myself old, in about forty years.

Especially two opening songs (Kid on my Shoulder and The Pot) that alone are worth an entire album and a subsequent record that, with repeated listening, proves to be up to their level. An expressive potential that, especially with regard to the piano parts, is perfectly displayed and that gives hope for future albums. A wonderful debut, fun and intelligent, from yet another New York band that hasn't been talked about in Italy yet.
