Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory

Devon, let them vent, poor things... after all, the review is there and the review remains, and this burns them, you understand... ;-) ...Giorgio, my conclusion doesn't change: if for you they express perfection, it means that the two of us will never be able to communicate on this... too far apart :-)

Well, the fact that I don't like them is obvious... like when you read a bad review in the newspapers; it's clear that the journalist who wrote the review doesn't admire the album and the band in question, what's important are the reasons... and then, in art, better severity than moderation.. we're talking about ugly and beautiful, damn it! ;-)

I can't stand the Growl?? I'm a fan of (not all) Neurosis, no problem with the Growl... But if you tell me: "their songs are stylistically PERFECT, and moreover they are extremely difficult to perform" it means we're totally on a different wavelength... because I couldn't care less about the fact that they are extremely difficult to perform or stylistically perfect, it’s clear, it doesn't matter at all when judging a song or a band.. that being said, I think I can tell you: we totally think differently about what is beautiful in music, we can categorize the discussion as "different tastes" ;-) bye

But it was clear that if you recommended them, they must have some importance... but whether they are considered a great band doesn't matter to me... I evaluate what I feel, from my point of view I fully confirm my judgment... and anyway, listening to them again (for the last time I think) they are definitely already better than DT... with this, the fact that they are considered innovative says a lot about how certain Heavy Metal (the term Metal is commonly used for brevity, I know that it means nothing, and honestly, repeating the same series of adjectives before "metal" is a bit tiring) is terribly stale. Bye!

No, I'm having a lot of fun :-) ...I also have roots in the south, at least on my father's side: Reggio Calabria.

...with this, I reiterate that everyone has the right to listen to whatever they want, of course, they're just opinions... but don’t sell it to me as the pinnacle of what rock has to offer, I simply cannot accept that. ;-)

I listened to Opeth.. well, thanks for providing more topics for my opinions.. :-D obviously from my point of view they're a total mess... but don't you feel how limited they are? They pretend to describe, elicit, and build a world with maximum interpretative formalization and stylistic closure: an obvious aesthetic contradiction.. not only that, but as in the case of DT (Opeth, of course, have a more "niche" approach) their presumption knows no bounds.. they would pretend to span across different genres and themes (with rhythmic ideas, I admit, even remarkable unlike what someone like Portnoy can offer) without really opening their standards, but forcing everything into a predictable, standardized, aprioristically established poetics... in the span of two minutes, any piece by Fugazi says more than they do with an entire album.. (I "tasted" Deliverance, to be precise)
