no problem :-) after all, the beauty lies in discussing it.

I didn't like it. The usual stuff that references other stuff.

I'm not sure it's post-modern... since post-modern implies a sort of reworking, which is essentially superficial because it presents itself as a discourse of pure language, that is, of pure form, where everything can tendentially be associated with everything. The Dogbowl comes to mind in this regard. In fact, don't get me wrong, I agree with you: this is a post-modern record, but precisely because of its continuous changing and re-changing at the arrangement level. However, that voice is merely revisionist, or even worse, revivalist. It can only be understood as post-modern in terms of using the formal canon in a completely content-free manner; but I ultimately consider it an even worse drift than post-modernism since it lacks even the awareness of being pure language, limited to mere citation.

Frankly, I didn’t like it.. the rearrangements seem pointless and rather predictable, and they never manage to elevate a piece that is frankly not that original on its own.. and then his voice really annoyed me: Besides the fact that even the references do not excite me, this continuous referring back to what has already been written and said bothers me excessively by now. Of course, de gustibus.. and obviously without taking anything away from the excellent review. The idea of the label in question, however, is truly intriguing.

I agree with Sfascia, anyway... Bleach is probably the best of the Nirvana albums and it's certainly not a matter of "intellectualism" (it doesn't seem to me that Bleach is particularly more difficult than the subsequent ones), rather it's about pure expressiveness... whether due to production or Cobain's status, it has never been as relevant as in Bleach, which is probably why it remains the ultimate expression of Nirvana's poetics.

Beautiful review. Truly one of the best (including magazines and various "experts") I've read about Nirvana... your judgment is also very relevant, although overall I think it's a rather uneven album (which is a flaw from a certain point of view but also a merit if we consider the visceral candor of the record). Congratulations.

no bullshit. A pretty simple and rather generalized observation (unfortunately), perhaps I used "big words" to express it :-)

Psycho, it seems that you want to justify your final judgment at all costs, as if you expect it won’t be shared ;-) ..I am more aligned with Northensky’s review: I was actually quite curious to listen to this album, which however seems utterly pointless to me and a nearly prototypical exemplification of the mediocrity of many (sub)genres of this period, an exemplification that is expressed in this case (as in many others) in a total regression from the debut album, not so much from a strictly musical point of view, but clearly in terms of ambition: which is increasingly simply to try as much as possible to reference the past (and never, ever to reinvent it) with the addition of a shabby and irritating glossy production that should alone constitute a factor of modernity.. really a type of pointless operation.
