Let me say that this, similar to Freddie Mercury, only shares sexual tastes!

Dear Fenrir, I’m leaving the gun to Dead (what a sad joke!): Cancer is an ignorant Death band that takes itself too seriously (I’ll just tell you that their anthem song is titled "Cancer, Fucking Cancer!"). Honestly, I find the musical choices of Darkthrone to be much more fertile and decadent: listen to songs like Nastassja in eternal sleep or Over fjell og gjennom torner and maybe funeral fog. You’ll feel that the former will wither you like a dry leaf, while the latter will at most make you want to kick your neighbor's dog. I believe that Mayhem are to Black what Deicide are to Death (and you know what I think of Deicide). A cornerstone, of course, but also one of the most predictable and inadvertently ridiculous realities. Can we perhaps say that they invented Death? No, they wrote a couple of important hits but nothing indispensable.

The review is nice, but I don't know the album... I'm not convinced though; I believe it wouldn't be my cup of tea.

But when will they publish my review on Mechanical Animals?
Voto:
fantastic review, but I honestly find the album negligible; only for enthusiasts

So Fenrir; I’ll start by saying that I have a lot of dislike for this band, but I used to dislike Satyricon too. However, after listening to Nemesis Divina and getting to know Black Metal better, I bowed down before such a great masterpiece. As for Mayhem, it’s not just dislike but contempt for their Black that’s as cheesy as a Cancer album. Black Metal is introspective music; it’s not meant to be chaotic, and it seems that Mayhem (and many others) have never understood this. I don’t even think it’s possible to compare "Bathory" to "Deathcrush": try to consider the year of release (1984 and 1987, respectively). Realize that when "Bathory" came out, neither "Reign in Blood" nor "Master of Puppets" had been released, nor was there any talk of Death Metal. By the time "Deathcrush" came out, a lot had already been done, not to mention that, if possible, it’s less Black than Bathory. But the point on which I am unwavering is: where do you see the charisma of Euronymous?
