Anathema and MDB fit better into the gothic perspective, but they mix genres and that makes their music even more fascinating. However, it’s not fair to split them up. Theatre of Tragedy is mainly gothic. They play a music that is all their own. Now many subgenres have been born in doom. Cathedral have undergone a transformation that some like and others don’t. I remain on the opposite side :-))
