I don't know this one... I guess I need to discover it. Great as always, Lewis! Sorry, Lewis, but can you satisfy my curiosity... is this '60s thing a passion you recently discovered or something you’ve carried with you since you were born? When I was only 5, I discovered Le Orme, and that’s where my journey into great music began. Aside from the teenage crises (for a while I listened to dance music and set Le Orme aside; they were the only ones I listened to except for some exceptions like Lucio Battisti), then I got to know the Beatles, and that’s when the dim flame of the crap of disco music started to shine again...) it’s a musical period that I still carry in my heart.

Beautiful review... in your pure style... I like it. I've never listened to the band, but reading this review, I know to expect something good, and I think that if there's a violin in the lineup, it will be something truly special.
The Beatles Paperback Writer b/w Rain

Well... Lewis, I’m speechless... MAGNIFICENT!!!! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you’re great! As for the album, what can I say... it’s magnificent too, just like the Beatles. I have a gem about the song "Paperback Writer"... I heard a live version performed by the Fab Four along with Jimi Hendrix!!! Did you know that, Lewis? "Rain" is a journey out of reality; every time I listen to it (it’s more accurate to say every time I listen to the music from that magical period), it’s pure mental bliss!
The Rolling Stones Their Satanic Majesties Request

Lewis, once again a great review! I haven't listened much to the psychedelic Stones, apart from "Between...", so as a die-hard Beatles fan, I wouldn’t know how to make a proper comparison. I'm not the type to say, "the Beatles are better than everyone else..." because I listen to groups and singers from various genres, with only one thing in common... the era. Every group or singer from the 1964 - 1977 range contributed to giving an extra expression to Rock, a prime example being the Beatles and the Stones... the former provided (if not created) a unique way of writing songs and an importance to the leap from backing band to frontline group for the contemporary and future generations, while the latter brought what Rock had been missing up until then: a generational impact and a more provocative, cutting edge.
Le Orme In Concerto

nightwalker10 I know Le Orme like the back of my hand... when I was only 8 years old, I went to see them live (now I'm 18, so you can do the math...). I agree with you about the "unconventional" recording, consider that we are in Italy and at the time the most advanced technologies appearing in America and England had not yet arrived in our late country... just think that in America color television appeared in 1956, while it wasn't until '77 here!!!!!!!! But I don't share your opinion on the rating you gave the album... 2 is too low for a live like this... at most it deserves a 3.5 or 4, but not 2.
Paul McCartney Off The Ground

As always, a great review dear Andrea... well done again, you deserve a nice 4.5. Every time I read one of your reviews about Paul (even though I haven't listened to the album), it always gives me more insight into what to expect at the moment of listening and the creative genius of our dear Macca. PS: do you only review Paul, or do you plan to do reviews on the other Beatles as well?... there's absolutely nothing on Ringo's solo work on DeB!!!

But how the hell did I write the first sentence???? I CORRECT: "I haven't listened to the album, and the review makes me imagine what I can expect when I finally listen to it:..." oh now that's correct!!!.... sometimes I don't know what and how I write! (:

I haven't listened to the album, and the review makes me understand what to expect when I do: a McCartney who is, in his own way, naively experimental... You deserve a solid 4.5 for the spot-on description of Paul's songwriting style... which, as you rightly pointed out, overlooks the lyrics, placing more importance on the Music... and it must be said that our Beatle really knows his stuff!
