The Doors The Soft Parade

Jim, the review isn’t bad. I really like how you started it (but also how it continues). What can I say about this album? I’m passionate about various bands, from the Beatles to Pink Floyd, I’ve heard worse! The songs I like the most are... "Touch Me" - "Tell All The People" (wonderful the phrasing of the Piano) and "Shaman's Blues." It’s fair to say that it’s not the best album by the Doors; they’ve passed their peak with "The Doors" - "Strange Days" and "Waiting For The Sun" (my favorite album). Long live the Lizard King!!!!

Jim, are you sure he has already published it? Up until a few days ago, I was trying to find reviews on the E, L&P, but there wasn't even a trace.

I meant... not even "Tarkus"

"Hobbit,"Brain Salad Surgery" isn't boring... it contains beautiful pieces like the Suite "Karn Evil 9" (the guitar solo and the keyboard riff are stunning), "Jerusalem," and "Toccata." Even "Trilogy" isn't dull...

Now I turn to "Grasshopper": I didn't know you were writing the review for this album. I myself wrote in my personal profile that I intend to write reviews of E.L.P. albums due to the lack of interest from the Italian web regarding the band. Then I saw around the site that there are different users with reviews of the same albums, so I wouldn't have had any problem with you… in fact, I would have been happy... someone else interested in E.L.P.!
I wrote two versions of this review; this is the rough one... let me explain: having a PC full of spyware and therefore slow, I was about to send this review when the computer froze, and I had to write another one... (much nicer, with many more observations than this one), so I sent the other one too, and in the end, they published "the worst"!
THANK YOU FOR VOTING FOR ME (WHATEVER THE VALUE WAS)!!!!

I voted and reviewed according to my tastes... is that wrong?
I believe there isn’t a better album in the discography of E,L&P; I like them all (a bit less "Works...").
Addressing "lucabbrasi": I accept good and bad comments, but I demand to be understood!
About "Lucky Man," I said it seems inspired by The Beatles not in a derogatory sense (I myself love The Beatles), on the contrary... Listen to it more carefully and notice. "Lucky Man" for me is a beautiful song (I even play it on the guitar!), but it’s immediately clear that it’s a "commercial" piece... "Commercial" in the sense that on the first listening of the album, you forget the other 5 tracks, while "Lucky Man" is the only one you remember and keep singing in your head... do you understand? The fact that I said "enough to make Keith want to play the final solo" I didn’t make up... do you know the latest DVD released by E,L&P, "Beyond The Beginning"? Emerson himself declares in an interview that he is not enthusiastic about that solo and that he got "angry" (not really angry) about the airing of "Lucky Man" on the radio, saying it wasn’t part of his projects to make commercial songs. The same will happen with Lake who won’t want to write the lyrics to a very famous piece by Keith "Tarkus," but I didn’t quite understand the exact reason.

Jim, thanks, but now I have another problem...!
They published my review of the first album by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, I've received various comments and I feel the need to respond to these comments. The problem is that I write the text, enter my password, but it doesn't send the message... it doesn't even load... it just doesn’t send... dead!
What could it be? How can I resolve this?
Let me know.
Bye

Jim, thank you for your responses, but I didn't understand the one about the cover...

I don't even know who this Scaruffi is, and I don't want to know, because anyone who confuses the legendary Beatles with the decadent Take That is someone who understands nothing about Music (the real one!!!!). I completely agree with "bowie&barrett"; the songs from the (early, they matured later) Beatles may be simple tunes with the usual chorus, but we must appreciate the genius with which the "Fab Four" write and interpret that chorus. Try asking some bands today to write a song on par with "Yesterday," will they manage? I DON'T THINK SO!!! But we also need to look beyond the breakup; John Lennon wrote one of the most memorable songs in the world, "Imagine," which is also structured with the classic verse and the classic chorus, but have you seen the impact it had and still has?!!! The songs that today's bands write either talk about sex or the same old heartbreak (even the Beatles' early lyrics were like that), that's it, plain and simple! In Music, it doesn't matter whether it's a simple tune or not; what counts is the power of the words. A piece can be played in one chord, but what matters is how you interpret it, the reason you do it, and lyrics that can touch you deep in your soul. SORRY BUT I HAD TO DEFEND THE BEATLES....
