The Byrds Sweetheart Of The Rodeo

Among the songs, I would say that the five most significant (or at least my favorites) seem to be... "I'll feel a whole lot better," "Eight miles high," "Everybody's been burned," "Dolphin's smile," and "One hundred years from now."

I think trickykid meant to say that the signs of the post-Woodstock era, in hindsight, can be traced back to this album, and in many ways, he's right.

Yes, trickykid, you hit the nail on the head regarding the reinterpretation of tradition. In the review of "Music from Big Pink," I talked extensively about this aspect, recalling that a piece like "The Weight" had been included in the soundtrack of "Easy Rider," the iconic film of the post-Woodstock generation. For "Sweetheart of the Rodeo," the impact was even more pronounced because for the emblematic rock group of the USA at the time, moving from the hallucinogenic and cosmic anthems of "Eight Miles High" and "Mr. Spaceman" to the rural escape of "Hickory Wind" was a monumental change: that's why I called it the most important country-rock album of all time (not the best, which for me remains "Harvest," but which would never have come to be without this). It should be noted, however, that "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" was released a few months after "Music from Big Pink," and while it's true that Dylan would later join the trend with the emblematic "Nashville Skyline," it was Bob himself who had initiated everything with the earthy and twilight flavors of "John Wesley Harding," the album that marked his return after the serious motorcycle accident: with him no longer recognizing the surrounding world, and the scene no longer understanding him. Except for the sharpest ones: the Band and the Byrds, who by interpreting his songs could gauge the impact of Dylan's shift.

Thank you all for the comments @mien_ you didn't mention the most talented of all for me, which is Gene Clark! @odradek. We all have our favorite Byrds, the important thing is to always be amazed at how versatile they were in just a few years. Get it, you won't regret it. @surfer. Yes, the best way to appreciate this music is to put it in the car while driving through the most hidden roads of the island....

Oliver Stone JFK
Voto:
No one has the truth in their pocket, Lariana. The speech I gave came from challenging Stone's overly idealistic view of Kennedy, a figure much more ambiguous and complex than what the (still excellent, perfect in its kind) film lets on.
