"True and sublime concentrate of all those positive qualities that we would like to find in every pop song we listen to." Personally, I honestly ask for something more from pop...

I find it really boring, and the review is a bit bland as well, not exactly encouraging to give it a go...
Neil Young Mirror Ball
Voto:
Yeah! Great review, as always very thorough and attentive in Neil's analysis. Frankly, I think the album is a bit disappointing compared to expectations. Pearl Jam certainly don’t have the touch and class of Crazy Horse: just a lot of muscle, and the sound of "mirrorball" is definitely very muscular, perfect for that historical period. BUT as the reviewer wrote, the albums made with Crazy Horse in the same decade were a completely different story. Then it's always Young who sings it, and there are gems like "throw your hatred down" or "I'm the ocean." Three stars, I believe, is the right rating compared to the classics you mentioned, though. Regards.
Neil Young Eldorado (EP)

Well done Enrico, another important piece in the Youngian mosaic well reviewed. The anecdotes about Stills and Nash are very nice. "Cocaine Eyes" is certainly amusing, but the verses that Young dedicated to his old mates in "Thrasher" were something else entirely. There, Young was truly kissed by the gods of art like never before.
Tool 10.000 Days
Voto:
Well, now it's true that revisionism about Tool is trendy, it's one thing that 10000days is certainly not a masterpiece, and that too many reviews of this album have been a bit annoying, but to claim that Tool is one of the most overrated bands ever is a stretch... "aenima" will always remain one of the best albums of the 90s.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse Re-actor
Voto:
@tofo. Indeed, it's bizarre, but much of the criticism tends to categorize the work from "rust never sleeps" to "freedom" as ignoble and unbearable. Such a Manichean attitude clearly overshadows even perfectly accomplished works like "re-actor." I believe that the reason for such acrimony lies in Young's political positions. There's this cliché - now fossilized - of the old hippie Young, who started supporting Reagan before mysteriously coming to his senses at the doors of grunge, and many reiterate it. The funny thing is that probably these people have never listened to the perfection of tracks like "surfer joe" or "Shots."

As for "Hawks and doves," I'm not sure. I reviewed it and gave it three stars, but I think only the first side survives, which Young forged by drawing from the vast reservoir of his golden period of 74-75. Fun was an album made only for contractual reasons. I absolutely disagree about "On the beach" and "Tonight's the night," two albums that I adore in a somewhat morbid way, and I believe their rediscovery, especially that of "on the beach," is entirely deserved. Cheers!

Neil Young & Crazy Horse Life
Voto:
Basically a boring record, and that's a word that really doesn't suit Neil Young. I find Inca Queen a bit self-indulgent and rarefied. At least "prisoners of rnr" is entertaining.
Speaking of the '80s, I believe "re-ac-tor" is an almost masterpiece, and indeed I gave it 4 stars in my review. Nice review Enrico, very thorough.
