Girls Against Boys Cruise Yourself

@pretazzo. There are definitely some big black influences among their influences, filtered through CopShootCop. I believe that in many guitar parts there is their influence, for example, there are riffs roughly halfway through "i don't got a place" that remind me of "in on the kill taker." Then there's certainly the influence of gang of four that is common with Picciotto's band (especially for bassist Lally). Regarding what I call self-indulgence, I'm not very much in agreement; rather, I think they are quite detached, cynical, almost minimalistic: perhaps the heaviness of the music might make it seem that way, but as I wrote in the review, I believe the lyrics and the imagery evoked push in the opposite direction.
@lewis and stoopid. Feel free to do the same for guided by voices!

I always carry them in my heart, even though the latest albums are a bit bland. But first loves are never forgotten.

truly a great album, I had always heard good things about it. I bought the one they did for the geffem freakonica, but I didn't like it that much. Then I found this one in a used CD store in Paris and listened to it for months. A cyborg version of the Afghan Whigs. Great review.

The next one was "House of GVSB." Certainly, that’s a great album too, with gems like "superfire" or "disco six six six" (the latter being one of the best things they've ever done) and a rounder sound, in some moments leaning towards grunge as in "ThekindMskyou like." Great Lewis, I wish I could have interviewed him too!

Wow... from Lester Bangs to Lesto Bang, the new Punisher... the album in question is indeed a bit lackluster, with many tracks feeling somewhat thrown together haphazardly. But "Crush with Eyeliner," "Strange Currencies," and "Let Me In" are three masterpieces. Certainly, the subsequent "New Adventures in Hi-Fi" is better.
The Police Synchronicity

I simply believe that during the time the Police were active, there were at least twenty bands that were more original, more intriguing, and more complete: take XTC for example, about which there are very few reviews... but here in Italy, this myth of the Police persists, as if all the new wave bands had never existed... I don't know.

Odradek, in fact, I don't write reviews because I don't think I'm capable of it: if someone does a nice job, I like to comment and give compliments. If instead someone puts down a few lines with little effort, I say they could have skipped it. That's all.

Really impressive, grass: you have a vast culture, and you manage to not be boring when you write. Great review!
