The album is excellent, although perhaps a bit too polished, and this slightly undermines the craziness that more richly embellished the previous albums... I imagine you dedicated the introduction to davejongilmour, so I'll pass it on to you...

Thank you zigghio.....I agree on everything. Surely his absence has significantly affected the result of "Strays," a barely adequate album that is bound to pale in comparison to its predecessors...on one hand, the bassist who took his place came from a very mundane grunge-crossover background, light years away from the touch and hypnotism of Avery...but above all, he was fundamental in Jane's not only in terms of performance: in particular, Navarro, as this album demonstrates, found in Eric a partner to create a magical and unrepeatable chemistry. Unfortunately, the real disagreements in Jane's were caused by conflicts between Perry and Eric (Eric even tried with Perry's historical girlfriend, the one from "Classic Girl"), also because Perry had a bit of a hold over everyone in the band, and Eric felt stifled...but in this album, the good Avery has proven to be great. It's true he played with Alanis Morissette: unfortunately, his post-Deconstruction project didn't go very well (I’m talking about Polar Bear), and at a certain point he decided to take a step back professionally...but for me, he will always be a legend, the true custodian of the essence and the myth of Jane's Addiction. Among other things, Polar Bear released an EP and an album, very interesting, and as soon as I find the time, I'll write a review....as for the Smashing Pumpkins, I don't know yet, but I believe Corgan will give space to a talent like Avery: he has already learned the lesson - he wanted to command so much that in the end, he ended up alone - unlike someone else...ciaoooooooo

Nick, I think Kid was alluding to the "artistic" value of the artists he mentioned... they may have sold a lot, but qualitatively they certainly didn't live up to the hype generated.....
The Who Endless Wire

after living with whore, endless whore… of course you have a lot of imagination… it’s truly reassuring to know that Panariello and De Sica have gained followers… aside from that, a nice review

I wasn't displeased with Exciter: in particular, I believe the two singles are among the absolute best in the entire DM catalog. "Dream on," with its sinuous arpeggios set to a Boards of Canada rhythm, or "I feel loved," with that incredibly sensual groove... this album seems to me too much like "big numbers," à la U2, and it doesn't communicate anything to me... de gustibus!
