I haven't listened to it in a while; I remember with more pleasure "Teenager of the Year," his only album that holds its own against the Pixies' repertoire. I should give it another listen, it seemed decent but nothing more. Great review.

By the way, if I remember correctly, a brother or cousin of James Hetfield played in the Misfits...

pretazzo: if I remember correctly, metalheads became aware of Danzig mainly thanks to Metallica, who mentioned the Misfits as one of their main influences, not to mention the cover of "Last Caress." I think Danzig has always been a character who, beyond the purely artistic results he achieved, managed to surprise and avoid being trapped in stereotypes, perhaps with the exception of when he made an album inspired by NIN and Ministry: an album that certainly didn’t succeed, but was certainly worthy of his flamboyant fame.

Sure, as soon as I have a moment, Paris Texas will be my next review. Best!

Royal Trux are definitely a bit unlistenable; however, it’s clear that they had the right clarity and a fascinating project of deconstruction. Their early work is better compared to the brilliant yet fundamentally pointless citationism of the Blues Explosion.
