Well, as for whether the Nirvana track is better, I couldn't say (it's been ringing in my ears for a while now, and I've always preferred the less "famous" tracks from Nevermind), and anyway the musical context is different. In any case, a riff like that sounds better in the type of music Nirvana played, that's for sure. I also prefer many other bands from the new wave/post-punk era, but KJ definitely had a significant impact.
