I was listening again today to Vol.4 by our guys: oh, but the opening riffs of Cornucopia and Under The Sun could fit in any contemporary doom/stoner album and no one would notice the difference. And it was 1972... even Pentagram, who started around those years, had that kind of guitar sound. Iommi really invented doom on his own. Crazy stuff!

I agree, I also read the book, and right after I read Ozzy's. They made me understand that Iommi was the musical leader, but also the moral compass of the band, the one who didn't hold back when there was chaos, but also said, "enough, we need to work," the one who contained the group's excesses as much as possible. A true giant.

I used to be crazy about Converge years ago, now I listen to them much less. I also really liked Napalm Death, which remains a pretty heavy band. If you want to listen to some grind, there are 5 or 6 names in the game, and ND are among those.

I must confess that I read your reviews not only for the expertise but also to find some badass adjectives, which never fail. "Tempestuous and emaciated growl" is stunning ;) I listened to them for quite a while, and they are a great band, very original.
