Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication
Voto:
The album is great, but in my opinion, it's the beginning of the downfall of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which was fully realized with the following album. There are some truly exceptional tracks; in the end, no song from Californication is bad, but I think it was a change that felt too forced, too commercial. In short, it's an excellent album, but with Californication, the Red Hot Chili Peppers took a predictable path, that of the pop rock of By the Way!

Well done review, but allow me to say that Californication is also a rock album, yet it feels more commercial and linked to the mainstream. On the other hand, the rock in One Hot Minute is packed with crossover and metal elements, making it quite original. Sure, the Red Hot Funky are immense, but this album is a beautiful experiment that could have been expanded upon in a better way. Unfortunately, with Californication (great album but one that hinted at a future too tied to commercialism and pop influences) and especially with By The Way, the Red Hot have reached a downfall. I find them uninspired and too mainstream. This album is a true gem. I love it!

Red Hot Chili Peppers What Hits!?

It was my first Red Hot cassette, which introduced me to their spectacular early days, which I believe are superior to their post-Californication production (the latter included)!

I know quite a few songs from this album thanks to a compilation that features the best of their early career (what hits)! I had no idea that "if you want me to stay" was a cover!!! This song is truly beautiful, and the Red Hot make it their own. Fun and cheerful tracks like jungle man, brothers cup, catholic school girls rule, etc. In short, happy and carefree songs. The Red Hot of the 80s really had something special!

omeganex, I'm talking about any brutal death CD that now feels old and stale and no longer surprises. For example, I currently consider Slipknot to be more extreme than Cannibal Corpse or Deicide. With the latter, you know what to expect; however, Slipknot hardened their sound and for many it was a surprise, as they were expecting a commercial move, meaning an album similar to the debut or something more mellow. Instead, I hear riffs that also have a Slayer influence and a violence equal to death metal. That's all! And don't worry about me. I know plenty of extreme CDs!

Nice review, as usual there are always brilliant ideas, but you’re losing your touch a bit! The score is between a 3 and a 4, but since I'm a bastard and to encourage you to do better, I’ll give you a 3!

I prefer to place the band within the context in which they release the album rather than make a pointless list of the song titles. It seems more enjoyable and comprehensive to me; plus, if it’s not to your liking…

But how old are you? Anyway, you'll improve in writing and in concepts too. Just write the review and don’t think about what others say! The album kicks ass anyway, it might not be a masterpiece, but it’s really a nice CD that blows away a lot of extreme metal albums for breakfast!
