THE REVIEW

Hello everyone!!
I would like to start my review by saying that some people are really assholes... I'm not saying you should only listen to metal, because everyone has different tastes.

However, it’s not right to bash an amazing album like "Iowa" just because you don’t like the genre. Since I hate house music, I would never write a review on an album by Joe T. Vannelli (I think that’s how you spell it) because I might be way too, and I mean way too, offensive. I hope this brief introduction is understood and I hope that no more meanness will be written about albums of this genre in your reviews.

Anyway, I would say I can now start with my little review of "Iowa"...

So already with the first song "515" you are projected into another world and you understand what awaits you in the following minutes. The song is used as an intro and inside it, there are brutal modified screams by Corey Taylor #8 (my idol) and I think also by the other two percussionists Shawn Crahan#6 and Chris Fehn#3... once this intro is over, we arrive at the magical "people=shit" in which the 9 guys from Iowa launch a message with which I fully agree; there are very difficult parts to play and thanks to the ferocity of drummer Joey Jordison#1 (are we sure there’s only one : -)?) and that of frontman Corey, this track is truly devastating and listening to it is a truly wonderful feeling and, in my opinion, it is impossible to listen to it without the urge to break something rising within you.

After this track there comes one of complete destruction which is "Disasterpiece"; about this track, well what’s there to say, it’s pure destruction!!! The fourth song we are offered is "My Plague", the soundtrack of the movie "Resident Evil" in which breathtaking riffs and calm parts are harmoniously led by the magical voice of Corey Taylor. In the fifth track "Everything Ends" Corey takes it out on one of his ex-girlfriends telling her "You are the end of everything" for example... at the end of this song, you wonder: "but is the real devastation over??"... instead, no folks, now comes "The Heretic Anthem" that makes you jump like crazy all over the place and you no longer understand what you are doing... and that’s why the next song "Gently", taken and remade from the first album, starts calmly with drum cymbals, percussion hits, and clean parts, but after a couple of minutes here come the heavy screams and typical Slipknot destruction that introduces songs like "Left Behind", "The Shape" and the still amazing (I will never tire of repeating amazing and magical when talking about this album) "I Am Hated" in which it tells of an aesthetically ugly boy plotting revenge on the people who ignore him. In this song, as always, there are scary riffs and parts that are almost rapped: -)(well, so to speak) really beautiful (perhaps one of my favorites)...
Then as songs follow "New Abortion" and "Metabolic" on which, however, I don’t have much to say also because they are not among my favorites although still perfect... The album concludes with the calm and wonderful "Iowa" a truly strange but well-curated and well-executed song. How to perfectly conclude an album of this kind: -)

I think I have nothing else to say except do you want a piece of advice? buy "Disasterpieces" (DVD) and you’ll understand what destruction is... I don’t want to make you curious but I’ll just tell you that there are 134 minutes of destruction!!

I will be a maggot for the rest of my life and I hope that someone, after reading my little and incomplete review—because I’m not good with words—will do the same!! : -) with this I leave you and recommend the purchase of this album and the DVD mentioned before ciao to everyone and fuck Limp Bizkit!!

Our masked prophets have returned with the same charge of malice-violence and hatred that has always distinguished them.

Slipknot hit us with the rage and violence necessary to survive in today’s world. A continuous "fuck you" to the world! YOHOAAAA!!!

Take the Backstreet Boys, give them guitars, and put masks on them, and you’ll get the same result.

Now you no longer need to know how to play or sing; you just need to appeal to the fake-angry babies who think they’re alternative.

An absolutely INDIRECT way to express a small, very small discomfort towards society.

Only mentally deviated people like them could come up with the idea of creating anthems of fury like "Disasterpieces", "PEOPLE=SHIT" and "Left Behind".

By Devin Davis

Iowa is undoubtedly one of the most violent albums of the last five years.

Corey Taylor expresses himself greatly in every song, moving from very harsh rhythms to a calmer, less angry voice.

By Er Ribelle

"All the songs (and I mean all of them...) are characterized by extremely heavy and pounding riffs."

"The songs are heavy, but repetitive to the point of nausea."
