I know distortion, and as you say here, it seems they have moved away from the garage roots, so more than MC5 or Blue Cheer, I think they are closer to underrated bands like the great Killing Floor.

I see that you know these assholes well, a bunch of shitty saboteurs.

I've never been impressed by them either; surely better than groups like the Strokes and the like. For those who say they are beasts live and blow you away, I would gladly play folks like Teengenerate, Guitar Wolf, or The Hunches—now those guys really set the stage on fire. The BLACK LIPS give me the impression of searching for the pure sound of garage, yes, but there’s no edge to it.

It's the only album of his that I don't have, but having heard some tracks from a live show in '74, I'm not even looking for it; the crème de la crème of the captain is on other grooves.
