Mike, the Nephilim, and also the Sisters from the debut are gloomy. The later Sisters, Mission, and Cult (who after "Love" turned to street hard rock) are absolutely devoid of any gloom, both musically and in their lyrics. The Cult, in fact, were one of the bands that most influenced the emergence of street rock for the Guns, Skid Row, etc., which was all the rage in the early '90s. To define them, then, as the Ligabue of the gothic seems like a real insult. I would say they could, at most, be called the Morrisons of Gothic. Andrew explicitly stated that he wanted to be that, and Ian, in addition to recalling him in his stage movements, was supposed to play Jim in Stone's film (but he declined because he was on tour), only to later replace him in the Doors with poor results. The same goes for Wayne and Carl.

The effort is commendable, but these compilations always or almost always feature the worst of the era. This one, for example, aside from a couple of tracks that I kind of like and still dance to in the club when they play the fun stuff, pretty much sucks.

If someone comes to my house and behaves even slightly out of line, one thing is for sure: I’ll kick them out on their ass. And just hinting at the idea of a lawsuit makes me burst out laughing. "Excuse me, Marshal, I would like to file a complaint against Mr. Fidia because he insulted me on Debaser." Or "lawyer, I would like you to draft a lawsuit against Mr. Fidia because he defamed me by commenting on the latest film by what's-his-name." And yes, it would really be something to laugh about.

Ah, by the way, regarding the discussion about whether alcohol is a great ingredient for overcoming fear, well, that may be true, but the herb gave me (I’ve also stopped smoking cigarettes) a totally opposite effect. I remember one time I mistook a fig tree for some sort of Charon with I don’t know how many heads, another time I saw a garbage bin cross a very wide street on its own until it reached the top when, terrified, I mistook the garbage truck, this time, for a spaceship because I was blinded by the flashing light (some sort of siren) of it.

A big thank you to everyone.
Bartle, due to my incompetence, I lost your email.
Write me something so you can resend it. Bye bye.
P.S.: even the sight of blood has a certain effect on me.

Very good memento, if your nickname didn’t constantly remind me that I have to die, you would be my main read here on DeB.

The review was already there (mine), but this one is not bad at all, and it's good that we talk about the Cult, who are one of my favorite bands.
The only thing I contest is when you refer to the Cult as a "cult" band.
In the 80s, they sold millions of albums with both "Love" and the more rock-oriented "Electric," and especially "Sonic Temple."
They were also quite popular in the 90s with "Ceremony."
Even now that their latest album is set to be released soon, the news is practically everywhere in music magazines and websites.
Ian Astbury was initially chosen to play Morrison in the Doors movie, but since Ian was busy with his band on the Sonic Temple tour, Oliver Stone cast Val Kilmer instead.
Edie (hey baby) and She Sells Sanctuary still occasionally pop up on MTV.
So, not exactly a cult band résumé.
I give an extra point to the rating I had given in my review because this album only gets better with age.
Highly recommended is also the previous "Dreamtime."

One of the most adolescent-idiotic covers of the century.
