I always hope that what you say doesn't happen, but man is not strong enough to dodge every blow "inflicted" by modernity, and no one can be consistent in every aspect of their ideals... It is precisely from the multifaceted nature of man that contradictions can arise, and often you don't even realize it... I'm not casting a bad light on Eno's good faith, but unfortunately, money is a damn pillar of this system and it is convenient, and certainly, there is also a need for economic stability to dedicate oneself wholeheartedly to something, especially in the artistic field. Usually, it happens that at the beginning you might even go hungry, but you remain independent; then little by little, maybe...
However, I don't want to make a discourse in absolute terms; fortunately, there are some who resist, look at David Thomas... Eno has certainly made a lot of money from that silly little tune at the opening of Windows (it was his, did you know that?), but perhaps the most fitting example is that nice guy Bono, who goes here and there to conferences and fights on AIDS, hunger, etc. (and in my opinion, he seriously believes in it, he's not doing it for publicity), and then you hear the nice little story about him having his lucky hat, forgotten at home, sent to him at the Pavarotti concert where he was supposed to perform, having it travel first class by plane and spending around a hundred dollars in the process. Not to mention the kilos of diamonds he carries on him... Perhaps an artist who has managed to resist quite well is Zappa. But Eno still remains among the greatest. Period.

With U2, Eno must have hit the jackpot because he must have made a fair amount of cash... In general, I believe that (beyond U2, who have never really intrigued me) Eno has been incredibly important for music, particularly in his role as a producer, as well as an "innovator." The bands he has brought to light (Talking Heads above all, but also the recordings he wanted of performances by the Contortions, DNA, and others featured on "No New York") are all, in their own way, "milestones" of music in the last 30 years. And yes, our Brian has been one of the greatest, and damn it!

It seems to me that they arrive on stage riding roaring motorcycles... but if they actually found themselves fighting and doing all the other nonsense typical of songs of this genre, I can already see a bit of looseness in their pants... in short, to recap: a bunch of funny idiots.
