Poletti, after being a pain in the ass to everyone with your arrogance in the musical field (usually not only out of place but also lacking the necessary knowledge), I see you are making a career in the field of Cino(e)filo as well. Good job! As for the film, I agree 50% with Donjunio and 50% with Fidia. I'm totally in the middle and can't give a rating! The review is heartfelt and objective.

"Some live performances by Hendrix, I admit, are a mess," and while I adore Hendrix, I can't help but agree with this statement. Sometimes he would get lost in useless flights of fancy, completely going off tempo (not just out of time). But very often he was so high that he didn't even know what he was doing. This is a great performance but, in my opinion, quite poorly recorded. 5 for him, 3 for the recording.

In this case, it is perfectly legitimate (a dreadful term) to ask oneself: But why?

@S4doll: Hamburger Hill is definitely unwatchable. One-star movie for me! Platoon is, in my opinion, a masterpiece but completely different from Apocalypse Now. More raw, more documentary, more reportage. To put it in literary terms, if Apocalypse Now is poetry, Platoon is the editorial of a newspaper. 5 to both in their totally different forms.

I would have eliminated the scene with the French colonists as well (I mean from the redux version). Useless, heavy, and boring.

The "divine comedy" made into a film. So full of allegories that it can be watched endlessly without grasping all the details. Immense, from start to finish, from the turning fan blades to the napalm on the palms, to the scene where the black boy exterminates the family trying to defend the puppy, culminating in a total descent into hell, marked by the sacrifice of the cow. A film that is unforgettable. 5 for a lifetime. A beautiful review, but as always, it’s almost impossible to perfectly review masterpieces.

Unquestionably, we have all listened to it more than once. At least those who were between 12 and 18 at the time. Equally undeniable is that it is an album for teenagers, tailor-made for them (us back then) and therefore it will never go down in history except for the number of copies sold. An enthusiastic review, but perhaps too much.
