Not with Fest's words, but I agree with him on the jury. Excellent review.

Musically, I agree with paloz, I also prefer Astrolabio. The reviews are indeed a bit brief for someone who is a novice...

It's nice to see and read an exchange of "conflicting" opinions at this level. I believe this does good for those who write, read, and (I think) try to make music. I respect your opinion, I love The Beatles, I love The Byrds, and I like The Beach Boys. But I tell you, for what little it may count, those I've spoken to (Doug from BTS and Brett from Caustic Resin, Pall from Black Heart Procession, the Battles, Palazzo, Godano from Marlene, Girls Against Boys, as well as Arab Strap and Belle & Sebastian, more understandable) all told me about their "love" for the baronets... it may be that they didn't have all the influence that is attributed to them (like me), but it can't be denied that they had a tremendous impact on the development of pop music (and not only) and that the great bands contemporary to them didn't look at them not only as a model of popularity and profits...

the review perfectly expresses Mars's thoughts, with which I disagree and (quite rarely) is in tune with Scaruffi. I really like...

As for Scaruffi... he can write whatever he wants and wherever he wants, but that doesn’t mean he’s always right. I read him and I enjoy it a lot; he’s an immense source of information, but his judgments are pedantic and contemptuous towards what he doesn’t like, and even if he wrote directly for God, I can very well say that I don’t agree with him. Also, try asking a multitude of great American artists what they think of the Beatles...? Or if they know who Scaruffi is...? That's the difference, my friend... I asked the Built To Spill, and regarding the second, they looked at me questioningly...

I basically agree with you rocknroll... but at the end you're the one contradicting yourself. The historical importance of the Beatles is not something you, I, or Scaruffi can decide, but rather the vast majority of artists who have made music afterward... this is a fact, from Zappa to Baustelle... so don’t talk about intellectual honesty by relegating them to a mere freak show phenomenon. Okay, they "copied" here and there, but the fact that they are fundamental (even in the USA) is established, to the point that bands like the Beach Boys struggled to keep up or others like the great Byrds resorted to country-folk due to manifest inferiority in the pop realm... and as you rightly say, one listens to whatever they want...

Even for me, the only thing hard to digest is the Ziliani-style closure... your judgment is debatable or not, but it is relevant to the text... and what a text it is!
