Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory

My provocation stemmed from yours, Bernard Adriano, because if one day I wanted to listen to the DT again, I shouldn’t, because according to you, I would be "ignorant"? When ever!? Ignorant would be someone who places the DT in a cultural-historical context that doesn't suit them, not someone who wants to re-listen to Images and Words every so often. Come on now...

you're exaggerating, Bernard. Even your fucking porcupines are a little overrated, you know..:))))
Opeth Ghost Reveries

"Devil cracked the earthly shell...." this part sung in clean voice, underneath has a riff that could belong to any song by Tool.

after repeated listens, the rating drops, alas.

Wait, there's a bit of Tool and Dream Theater in this album... just a little, but it's there.

Ah, age doesn't always matter, does it?? I read the posts above and I don't understand what age has to do with it. My grandfather is almost 70, but he doesn't even know that rock exists :)

Trophy... here no one judges your tastes. Tastes are the last element that concerns a serious person. What should matter is simply the artistic side of an album. The artistic side is not discerned through "like or dislike." The artistic side is culturally and historically mediated, through eclectic listening in rock. Now you mentioned 12 Stones for example... I listened to one of their albums... that album is simply STINKY CRAP, but not because I don't like it... (or not just because of that)... that album is ridiculous expressively, artistically, technically, trivial, soporific, useless. It really sucks! Now maybe you should listen to something else; if I were you, I would abandon Nu metal (you probably know too much about it already) and dive into Rock, and every noteworthy artistic manifestation of it. Because we have Papa Roach who are great, what are Pere Ubu?

I don't know, I'll never understand the people who exalt the "Floydian" Anathema, never.
