I really like the early Opeth up to Blackwater Park, I can't stand Porcupine Tree too much (except for the early albums), I have distanced myself from the prog power style of SymphoniX, which isn't very different from the DT style. I'm aware of bands like Meshuggah, which I can still listen to occasionally. Ah, Tool.. I like them up to Aenima.

I know many of the classic prog bands of the 70s (Genesis, Rush, King Crimson, Floyd, Soft Machine, Jethro Tull, etc.), and contemporary stuff like Mars Volta, Aghora, Cynic, Spyral Architect (which I'm not crazy about). I haven't been very interested in Italian bands, sticking for now to the classics like PFM, Banco, Le Orme, and so on.

Well, the tone is deliberately cynical because, unfortunately, the album is quite rich in such similarities, so I'm starting to feel irritated if every song by the Dt recalls three others from different bands or their previous albums. Not to mention the lack of expressiveness in these resemblances.
