Porcupine Tree Fear Of A Blank Planet

YES, I prefer them my whole life!

It's not that it's one of the most beautiful; it's that it's the most ingratiating of the DT. Avoidable pop ballads, and too often they try to move the listener with a cloying romantic style that I no longer find appealing. And there are also plagiarisms, like the intro of "Home," which I can't distinguish from that of "Let There Be More Light" by Floyd and "Flick of the Wrist" by Queen, which is referenced in "Fatal Tragedy."

But please ignore how they were dressed, that's not how you should judge a work, but do I really need to tell you that? Every artist and glam group had a look of queens (some more than others), and so what? Anyway, among the best Aerosmith and the best Queen, I really don't see much of a difference.

Uh.. my judgment has changed a bit.

I hope the Pt fans won’t hold it against me, it’s just my opinion of course. :-)

But then excuse me, from someone who listens to Pere Ubu, I didn't expect all this emphasis on the latest PT album.

Good DaveJon knows how I feel about the Pt.. Anesthetize is the only track worth commenting on from the entire album (since it’s clearly the best; the others are really anonymous and feel overly familiar to the point of nausea... to be fair, I think Sleep Together is slightly more personal in style, and Sentimemntal is at least, um, catchy, although it’s polished pop... like the whole album, after all). Anyway, yes, Anesthetize has some pleasant moments and a melody that doesn’t make me drop my balls on the floor, but I honestly don’t see all this originality. I mean, the point is always the same: it’s a prog suite that would have been just another song in the 70s. At this point, I’ll just listen to Sky Moves Sideways again. And by the way, that "mercurial" attribute scares me... you’re not comparing these guys to the Mercury Rev, are you?? Because if you are, I’ll come to your house and strangle you with my hands!

But excuse me, what is metal if not a branch of Rock everything??

And then there is NO resemblance here. This record is all about an inexpressive resemblance.

It seems to me that I speak Arabic. Maybe I'm not being understood? But dreamTheater, I make you a list of the plagiarisms, and you tell me that I'm pathetic? But maybe the DTs are more pathetic than me, right? But then what kind of talk is this: "After 50 years of music, do you think it's easy to compose songs, etc. etc..." HAS ANYONE FORCED THE DTs TO RELEASE THESE RIDICULOUS ALBUMS? Damn, since Falling to Infinity, they’ve been releasing albums that are undoubtedly criticizable (including SFAM, which is super baroque and redundant, with plagiarisms there too). IF THEY HAVE NOTHING MORE TO SAY WITH ROCK, THEY SHOULD STOP PLAYING. And then... what the hell do Ilary Duff and Fabri Fibra have to do with this? WHAT THE HELL DO THEY HAVE TO DO WITH IT? DO YOU EVEN KNOW THOSE 4 BANDS I MENTIONED AT THE BEGINNING? Do you know Husker Du, Jesus Lizard, Mercury Rev, NIN, Codeine, Cop Shoot Cop, Neurosis, My Bloody Valentine, Red Crayola, Chrome, the great Foetus, the Vampire Rodents, and another 67890 million bands from every rock subgenre and every era? Do you know that these bands don’t get airplay on MTV? Do you? Do you know that you have to buy books on the history of rock (the real one) to hear about them? Or, as I often do, take a look at Scaruffi's website, click on "THE BEST ROCK ALBUMS EVER" or "THE BEST ROCK ALBUMS OF THE 70s 80s 90s," and you'll find plenty of bands and artists. And please, don’t stop at the DTs; go beyond.
