I scrolled through some of Marpado's comments to see if he had any insights (not that you can understand everything from comments, eh!) regarding metal, but it doesn’t seem so, so very likely his comment isn’t that reliable.
Anyway, Dr., death-doom metal is a genre that, for the most part, combines the slowed-down rhythms of doom metal (a genre that Black Sabbath are considered the founding fathers of) with the growl, which is a vocal style typically associated with death metal.
Some "famous" bands in this field are the very early Anathema, the early Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, and Novembers Doom. It’s not a genre I follow much, but usually, the themes discussed deal with sad topics, perhaps avoiding things like religions et similia. It remains a bit of a heavy genre to listen to; I usually avoid it, but Orphaned Land is an excellent band that manages to blend melody, heaviness, and also very sweet openings.

Great MATT... I've had the album for a few weeks now, but I've only given it a quick listen, though it seemed good to me. The review, on the other hand, is accurate and timely, well done!
