Matt7...for me, Sonic Youth are the ultimate living room noise. They churned out 4 tracks that lasted 9 minutes each on every album. The real noise, for me, isn’t sonic, but Big Black, Butthole Surfers, Bongwater, Sun City Girls, Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, Chrome (if we want to consider them as such), Boredoms, Melt Banana, and others. I've never particularly liked it... grunge in general has terribly bored me. I have immense respect for Tad, Babes in Toyland, L7, Mudhoney, and Screaming Trees (which I don't listen to anymore); the only ones that remain faithful in my player are Jesus Lizard, Dinosaur Jr, and the timeless, wonderfully amazing NIRVANA!
