Never as straight as a film, I should rewatch it, but it’s one of the ones I like the least from Jarmusch. I found it (aside from all the fuss about the book of five rings, which had already put me off a bit, but that’s my issue) caught between a gangster movie, cheap philosophy, and nonsense comedy (some dialogues are deliberately so). I don’t know. Dead Man fascinated me a lot; similar in themes of death, but at opposite ends in their representation.

I had missed Lewis. Beautiful as always, actually even better. Maybe it's because I just snagged an original Gris Gris from that era for 10 bucks, or maybe it's because I studied obeah and Caribbean cults in college, or maybe it's because I'm stepping out of my office/hovel in twenty minutes, but you made me want to wait to find it on vinyl. So, if you try to pull out those horrible definitions like hypnagogic pop-glo-fi and similar stuff that makes me break out in hives, we’ll spam all the pages. There would be a blasphemy, but some people still get offended, so I’ll avoid it. I listened to the album the other day, and despite the musical premises that should have made me cringe, I found it charming and not annoying. Charming, you know, not beautiful.

here's Fallen, unfortunately, whether we like it or not, it's true. That's why I would love to be a calm grower for personal use. However, unfortunately, the rigidity regarding this matter has increased, and the only discriminating factor now is the money you have to pay for a lawyer, because whether you're dealing coke or just growing a little bit of weed for yourself, the risk is the same. I may be simple-minded, but regulating its consumption while maintaining a ban on driving and other activities under the influence of cannabinoids—essentially bringing weed out of hiding—I don't see why that should be viewed as a bad thing. By all means, it's a very long issue and not easily simplified, especially since detractors and supporters often struggle to find common ground for dialogue.
