I like the definition you give of MGMT, but their album deflated for me pretty quickly, even though it's full of ideas. I also like it when you describe this album as "psychedelia listened to underwater"; it fits very well.

I also adjust the rating, this album is really cute. A little kingdom recovery is necessary.

@kosmo: wise words, both about the album of the same name which I just listened to again last week and hasn't lost its edge in these 5 years, and also about Rumore and similar magazines. It's a shame that I still buy it, following almost nothing that's offered, but I use it like my mother used to use postalmarket :). However, I can’t fully condemn this record, maybe because it should be judged as a standalone album rather than constantly compared to others (even though I can't help but do it...).

@antmo: Grinderman 2 is awesome, even just for the crazy video of Heathen Child:

@dottor fotter: Bright Lights unfortunately makes me very shit, sorry. Druganaut EP is fabulous, but not so much the title track, rather Buffalo Swan right after that, I got multiple people hooked when I played it during the summer evenings of 2006.

@nes: I wasn't too thrilled with the second Black Angels either. This one is different from both, mainly for its conciseness (under 40 minutes, about half of Directions To See A Ghost, so to speak) and for its 60's vibe (a bit like the first one, but less lethargic and drugged out).

@nes: this is halfway for now. I don't know where to place it because while I still find it rude, In The Future had some heavy tracks that really hit (apart from the horrible 15-minute piece), this one lacks personality (and since we are already in the strarevival field, they risk getting lost among the tide of bands taking the same paths, and there are more and more of them). On the other hand, the folk or similar tracks are better here in my opinion. However, on the previous one, there were two great tracks like Wucan and especially Queens Will Play which are not present here. In short, a big BOH for the moment. Instead, although on the first listens, I like the new Black Angels.

be good, be good, because if we have to fight over records, there won't be anything left for us...

I agree with Nes about the huge gap between the first and second. At first, it really got on my nerves, but then I realized I was wrong. The tracks with the big riffs are quite anonymous (Let Spirit Ride is a mix between Queen's Stone Cold Crazy and Sabbath's Symptom of the Universe), while the folkish ballads are the best tracks (Radiant Hearts is a great song). However, the earlier stuff, and not out of snobbery, in my opinion, is the best, both in the heavier pieces and in the twilight ones. And then, damn, a piece like No Hits from the first album was just a little experiment considering the subsequent artistic choices. What a pity.

Hello everyone. I imagined this album might not be well-received, and fundamentally, the premises for me weren't good. But in the end, as I wrote, I really enjoyed it a lot.
