In my opinion, Mercury Rev are undoubtedly a great band, but they've only composed one truly masterpiece album, which is this one. To be fair, they always have plenty of ideas, but often the realization of those ideas into music doesn't yield the happiest results. For example, Yourself Is Steam, aside from two or three tracks, loses a bit as an album. It seems to me that Mercury Rev have improved over time, and this album is the peak. I agree with you, Zaireeka, in saying that All Is Dream is like a poor copy of this little gem. Bye.

Well done for filling a gap on the site. The album is notable, but I don’t know why it didn’t stick with me much. I'd say the Spacemen 3 are a step above. In fact, who’s brave enough to do a review of the Spacemen 3? I don’t know them well enough, and I think you’d lynch me if I tried. Anyway, nice review!

Thank you for the compliments... I had been wanting to review the album for a long time but didn’t have it with me... then, during my usual record hunting, I found it on display for 3 euros and I couldn't resist picking it up... I had a burned copy in Italy.
