Heard a couple of times between yesterday and today... mmmhhh from the opening it seems like a lo-fi version of Blue Cheer and The Stooges. The rest doesn’t really fit (except for Mandrax Town, I think), very relaxed but with truly terrible volumes. I had to crank up the volume to hear the guitar. Alright, lo-fi, but you can overdo it! Anyway, I understand why Scaruffi places it among the top 10 psychedelic albums worldwide. A good album, but far from being a masterpiece. It’s the usual story: the more hard to find = the cooler. It’s a dynamic that’s easy to fall into (myself included), but it’s serious in Scaruffi’s case. The taste for the exotic is a nasty beast, and Scaruffi exalts everything that comes from Japan almost childishly. Or rather, he prioritizes the origin over the value, in my opinion.

Well, three is acceptable (I was born and raised on the early Floyd albums, and beyond that, I don't have any, not even burned copies). In a general perspective, maybe it's a 3.5, but these are personal judgments. I don't understand the 2 for Sgt. Pepper's; it's not THE fundamental rock album for me either, but a two shows too many years of carelessness, which is definitely detrimental. I understand the idea of downplaying the sacred monsters (that's fair and it's a dynamic that benefits many aspects of social life), but often this dynamic dangerously flirts with revisionism (it's not worrying for music, but in my opinion, it's an extension of the revisionism prevalent at all levels in our beloved society over the past 10 years).

Did we really need it? In other words, did the site still need yet another review of an album that I hope (but from what I see written by various users, superficially) everyone is familiar with. In my opinion, no, even if your review isn't bad. Perhaps this is the only album for which a track-by-track is justified (even though it turns everything into a shopping list). I've been saying this for 3 years: if the review exists and there's not much to add (without falling into long-windedness like here), let's not do it, folks. Period. It's not that hard; the world is full of albums.

Damn, I was about to do it, but I never really had enough time to listen to it properly. What can I say, good job aunt, I mostly agree with you, except for Agent 13, which is one of my favorites on the album (if that loser from Interpol sang it, it would definitely sound like crap as far as I'm concerned). Definitely interesting because I think it grows exponentially given its lack of immediate accessibility. I'm putting it on vinyl today, for sure.

It's true, the girl was one of the few really hot Japanese even in real life, tall and not short-legged with a not too flat ass. Remember this: flatassshortleg is a dominant gene in Japan.

"Later on, Jova will further mature, reaching a personal and musical maturity that has at times made him break through the barrier of the 'commercial'." THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE THANKS YOU WARMLY. THE ACCA TOO.

Given the veiled metaphors of the "seminal" rec, it fits perfectly, doesn’t it, stipe? They're not that essential, but quite valid.

I started drinking the bomb in '96/'97 and stopped in '98. A surrealist mix of spirits like I’ve never seen before... but my favorite was the King Kong (China + Cognac... all of the lowest quality). I lived nearby for a while, so I was always there.

Well, I think I know you by sight. I used to hang out at the Morion during the first few years of university from '95 to '98, then a bit less... I saw "Le Iene" there in '95 and then the Ed Wood showcase... Do you happen to know Luca Pulese from Venice? He was also a cook at Paradiso Perduto for a while (a guy with a mustache like Ussara, also Venexian, now at the Hilton in Beijing)?

I remember the little kid with his bare chest one evening at the Morion, around '98, in the throes of the worst laid-back attitude with the little Venetian punk girls. But do you know people from Morion? Like Walter the Argentine?
