debaser is managed by the Dwarfs, who have multiplied over time. Many share similar ideas (political and otherwise), while others, like Josi, sometimes have opposing viewpoints. The editorial is a clear response to Nick's from some time ago. In my opinion, it's still good to provide different perspectives. That said, I don't necessarily agree with Josi; we continue to clash when discussing religion, and we already had divergent opinions on Opus, to the point that if you follow the link I posted on the homepage, you can hear another point of view, diametrically opposed. The organization ODAN has existed since '91, so it wasn't born out of the totalitarian secularism mentioned in the editorial. And if you're interested, read the Letter (in Spanish and English) available on the same website, which the founder of Opus sent to Franco to congratulate him on his victory in the Crusade (as the Spanish bishops called the civil war). Ultimately, the truth is in between, and the editorial is right to say that it’s important to read. So don't take the link as absolute truth, but as an encouragement to read publications on the topic.

I met Luca G from Julie's through mutual friends... well, a bit of a know-it-all, anyway he has a nice store for DVDs and music in Reggio, and a boatload of money, just to say. I saw Offlaga and after 5 minutes I left so I wouldn’t get pissed off. I mean, to present them as something new is an insult to CCCP and their brilliant imagery. I like them too, but I wouldn't form a band that is just a copy even at the level of lyrics and imagery. Wake up people, wake up!!!

ugly faggot, beautiful high time at the end of the broadcast (am I remembering correctly?). I feel like for some strange reason I never put it on CD. And it’s one of the few I vaguely remember along with Lobotomizer (which I don’t like). For the rest, as already mentioned, the Holy Spirit of my modern musical Trimurti.

Honestly, you haven't convinced me much... referring to sacred Egyptian texts or early Christian fables as part of classical or ancient culture is quite the antithesis to the common avant-garde notion, which aimed to use the classical to break away from tradition (just think of the often-cited German hymn reworked by Stockhausen, to give one example). That said, in the end, the issue is terminological; if for someone avant-garde is also this, then why not. However, it is not avant-garde in the strict and almost institutionalized sense (what an ugly word...) of the term. Anyway, nice explanation.

Between Lucignolo and Strisci, the difference for me is like that between diarrhea and plain shit: one is more annoying and stinky, but the raw material is the same. Lucignolo exists also because Striscia exists and its false social function and denunciation.

Striscia la Notizia should be shut down as a television program. It summarizes everything that is wrong with television and Italian society. They tried to give themselves a new image with fake "reality TV" investigations, but in the end, it remains exactly as it was in '88. I watched the first episode at 12 years old and decided it was a show for idiots. I still hold the same opinion now. The same goes for Le Iene, with some mitigating circumstances. Anyway, if you grew up with it, I can understand why you might like it. But it should not and cannot be compared to INFORMATION programs (you won't believe it, but some people think that way). It has also sparked the sale of female flesh on TV (to be honest, Drive-In started it, but the fathers are the same, so...). Lobotomizing everyone to the point that if there isn't a hot woman in a program, there is no program. They have turned a vulgar exception into a common practice.

if he was born to make people laugh, then he was born wrong, or he was stillborn, because I swear (and it's not to be snobbish) it seems to me like a pseudo-comedy from a sitcom, just to say those things for which there’s a recorded audience to encourage the viewer's laughter. I love absurdity, but for me, his is just stupidity. I don't agree that he’s a comedian Hollywood hasn’t seen in years, since he doesn’t make me laugh. At this point, just look at Jack Black.
The White Stripes De Stijl

In my opinion, it's the best of the Stripes, or rather the one that annoyed me the least, especially because the next two or three were plundered by everyone for any use. There might be better stuff in the genre, but this little record and the one that followed don’t bother me. Definitely not essential, but if they hadn't been successful, they wouldn't have so many detractors.

It had the same effect on me at the beginning of his "serious" career. It took me a while to stop thinking about what he had done before; let's say that from Eternal Sunshine (where he makes practically zero faces) I consider him a good actor. At first, I wasn't convinced either with Truman Show, but the movie was interesting, so I let it slide.

I love Carrey in Truman and Eternal Sunshine as much as I would like to see this Carrey dead.... I can't even laugh if they tell me I've won the lottery while watching him. Simple-minded comedy that offends me. I might be an annoying critic, but this, Ace Ventura, or The Mask are gaseous state crap as far as I'm concerned. I'm amazed that so many people find him funny. Millions of times better is a comedy like Airplane! or (to stay current) Zoolander than this stuff. For me, it's the big screen equivalent of the pseudo-comedy of Striscia la notizia (just to mention one of the worst programs in the history of Italian TV).
