William Burroughs Naked Lunch

I do not agree with the engine that drives the review. Reading as a "test," the approach towards Burroughs in this book, the thoughts on experimentation, which here is not done to see what faces the readers would later make, but is something much more rotten. It was indeed Ginsberg and Kerouac, friends of the author, who scolded him for this work after finding him stoned amidst hundreds of scattered papers in the melted-down house where he lived at that time. And it wouldn’t hurt for the reader to watch Cronenberg’s film right after, which captures, in an absolutely clean and brilliant way, the hypothetical life journey of Burroughs while writing this piece of literary history.

I partially agree with the review, almost entirely on the passage "visionary should mean a closer synergy between every element of the staging (and, upstream, of the plot) not just the use of 'tricks' to superficially and trivially subjectivize the image." However, the rating is very low, perhaps due to a perspective influenced by what many think of this film (see the entry: masterpiece). I believe that it is still an honest product; the first scene in split screen and the relationship between Leto and his mother are certainly not to be discarded, indeed. Many elements of the plot and concerning character development are beautiful and work very well. It didn't leave me with much, perhaps because many times the style takes precedence over the content, but the film shouldn’t be judged with a 2, especially since it certainly doesn’t come with a staggering budget behind it. My personal rating is a solid 3.5, which becomes a full 4 in relation to the themes addressed.

great. very great. I instead grew up with the Spectrum. I envied the richness of the color palette of the Commodore, the incredibly more advanced audio compared to the ZX-81, its "superiority" nonetheless. A true computing gem of the '80s.
