Yes, odradek, this album deserves so much more, but that's how it is... personally, I vote gabbox, which seems perfect for really talking about it. Here we have the meeting of two different ways of thinking about music. Indeed, among many. There are Berlin DJs and musicians, there's Rob Gallagher from Galliano, there are lyrics by the poet Ursula Rucker, not pop songs. It's a much more visceral and thoughtful album than how Punisher wants to make it appear, it’s nothing like a piano bar.

Forget about Buddha Bar, just leave it. To even invoke Dante just to write this stuff. This album is almost a milestone, come on, limit yourselves.

Personally, I have never had a passion or talent for writing, and I believe it shows, so I don't run the risk of engaging in improbable exercises of style :D However, I am an avid reader and quite curious about music in general. I agree that there are people here who write absolutely beautifully (let’s not name names, or they might get overly excited, but to mention one, from the "loggia" of classical music reviewers, there's always something to learn ;) ), I don't think I'm exaggerating when I call them better than many pseudo-journalists and connoisseurs that you can read on paper. I don’t have an ideal review; my typical review... I enjoy reading almost everything, whether it’s "technical" and full of information, or lofty and poetic, which seemingly doesn’t talk about music (we could open a separate chapter on this: there are certain reviews that don't even mention the title of a song, yet they describe the album better than any other), the important thing is to try not to come off as pompous and know-it-alls; if the writing isn't at the level of Dante, who the hell cares. So aside from some mental gymnastics from a few, for the rest, let them write, as long as it’s done out of passion or a desire to share (the reason that drives you to write reviews is the same as mine: the desire to give back). Here on Debaser, apart from a few compliments and a thank you if you’ve pointed me towards a good tip (which isn't little, on the contrary...), you receive nothing else, so the impulse that drives any user to voice their thoughts, as I see it, is commendable. Then, one can agree or disagree on the content, and as you've probably noticed, we often "spar" a bit, but that’s part of the beautiful game that is Debaser, right? Specifically, I liked your review because it talks about a band I'm unfamiliar with and could really enjoy, as your enthusiasm shows that the album has struck you, and this enthusiasm inevitably reflects in the review. Plus, it's clear that you're "forcing" yourself to understand what you hear in the album, not through a quick and distracted listen (that could be another huge chapter to open, but let's leave that aside). What more could I ask for? So: 5 :)

I don't know this album, after all I "discovered" them relatively late; I'm slowly catching up, they are immense.

I searched for it around the web after reading donz's post, but I couldn't find it. Not even a fake, as my almost namesake says.
Ray Charles Ray OST
Voto:
I found it anything but boring. Honestly, I don't know if everything portrayed in the film is true or if, for the sake of the script, some situations have been romanticized, but it engages and moves you. I also appreciate that the film clearly shows that Ray Charles was neither a hero nor a "poor disabled person," but a great musician with immense talent and a lot of flaws, like all of us. A special mention goes to the actor who portrayed him—perfect.
