Nice comment, Caz :). I’m ALMOST in agreement with you. Tommasino, in my opinion, writes great, incredible pop songs, but as I mentioned earlier, he benefited significantly from the collaboration with StefanCamillo. It's obvious, as I always say, the difference you can feel between the first two dEUS albums and the last one, The Ideal Crash, which is decidedly more "conventional" in terms of sound. Stef is broader in this regard, ranging from electronic to blues to jazz and so on, while still staying within the pop realm. And it’s no coincidence that you prefer the Zita and this album, which by the way - is the most unique one - indeed, considering your tastes, I would advise against the last two; I doubt you would like them. I would recommend Kiss My Jazz instead (if you can’t find them, you already know who to ask :) ). Anyway, it’s clear that you’re getting older, Caz, the lagna-rock is getting into your bloodstream; you’re not the er ghepardo you once were.
...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead The Secret Of Elena's Tomb

Hi Barry Lipton :), yes I heard it, a disappointment. A few songs worth saving, pretentious to the max, a mishmash with a bit of everything. Actually, it reminds me of the last 90 Day Men, a meatloaf of the same consistency. They've gone overboard. That said, they are being praised everywhere, so it's probably me who doesn't understand anything :). I saw them live last Friday at Covo in Bologna and it somewhat reassured me, great concert (also because they played few new songs). Bye little bird.

I found some songs from them online and I confirm. Great band. I recognized "Golden Cloud" which they started with, and it hypnotized me and forced me to move my head and little foot to the rhythm. They also played "I Love You Too," beautiful. If I hadn’t heard the songs on record, I’d tell you that they had issues with their vocals, it was hard to hear, just like after the Trail (which are much more "noisy," so...), but it was identical to the record, whiny, muddled, sometimes barely noticeable... in this sense, they even reminded me of My Bloody Valentine (only for the voice, though). However, the solos where the singer launched himself were great, "swaying" just right :). I partially take back my comment about Spacemen 3; the third track "Everything's Going On" really sounds like Pierce & co., even though these guys are more "dirty" in their sounds, and it's perhaps the only one that somewhat reminds them. I will definitely buy this one and I'll make a note of the last one too. By the way, I read on their website that they were previously with Joe Lally's label (the bassist of Fugazi, I mean...), Tolotta Records and that there should be four of them, while in Bologna there were only three. Great great great.

saw them live yesterday, they played before And you will know us by the trail of dead, simply amazing, I liked them a lot. They are young but the guitarist-singer is skilled and knows what he's doing, maybe he overdoes it a bit with the wah-wah (I hope that's what it's called, I'm not very experienced :) ). "Rural psychedelia" is funny but spot on, I need to find everything by these guys. Stoner? I don't know... but they definitely have nothing to do with Spacemen 3 (bows). Nice psycho.

Found it and... it's been in my player for a while, really beautiful. The Manifold Curiosity is amazing, especially the angry ending. Expanded like GY!BE, but these guys, when they get worked up, really hit you hard :)

I know very little about Skiantos apart from a few of their most famous songs, but I know the Paolino Paperino Band very well. The first concert I ever saw in my life was at a L'Unità festival here in the province when I was 11 or 12 years old, and I fell in love with their song "Candy." The singer Iana is a friend of my brother; in the mid-90s, he left for Thailand and opened a diving center there. What gossip, huh? /// For those who might be interested, here’s a site where you can freely download all the songs from Paolino (of course, the albums are now hard to find): no title
