Ian had only passed through thoughts but was too old and ugly. Then John Travolta was contacted, but the choice ultimately fell on Val Kilmer (to Travolta's great regret) because he was a deep connoisseur of the character. Moreover, Val was able to sing most of the songs live in the film as he possessed a baritone voice and tone similar to Jim's (a quality that John lacked). Recently, Ian remains unemployed, nobody pays him any attention, and alone he doesn't know what to do, while someone thinks it's a good idea to do charity...
