I agree! Although most "power fans" must necessarily listen to the album, this is because as fans they must have a power album, at least in my opinion. SKA-POW!

Very nice review, but like you, I don't have experience with Kansas either... so my rating for the album: nada.

Alright, but what do they play? What kind of music do they make? I'm from '73, so something like this is understandable... but... 2 just because the review is original.

"composed neoclassical music on electric guitar, which is quite different; he was inspired by the classics, but the compositions are his own" no one questions that. Robert Fripp, since he no longer has the saxophonist, has rearranged 21st Century Schizoid Man (and other tracks featuring sax) to perform it with only guitars. This doesn't change the style nor what the piece was originally meant to express; it only changes the way of playing. Has he changed the genre? That’s just overthinking! An artist expresses themselves in art based on how they feel, not according to established norms: a true musician composes music based on their own feelings, not conditioned by genres and subgenres, but simply uses them to express their music more appropriately. In short, the genre does not determine the creativity or artistry of the artist, but the piece, which, in this case, is purely a mixing of two genres, without reworking, without passion, just like Rhapsody does.

Yes, indeed I have been too rigid; something original and innovative can resurface at any moment. Anyway, CoolOras, don’t put words in my mouth that I didn’t say. I only mentioned that "it has come back in style in Italy today," not that they started playing rap in Italy in 2006, which is quite different.

...fuck... if you want to stay in your bubble and don’t care about what you do, then don’t screw around, let’s be clear. If you didn’t know, dear blabbermouth, the expansion of rap happened in the 80s (which means it already existed before) and I have to tell you that by the early 90s, the genre had already become quite tiresome. If it’s trendy today in Italy, I don’t see why we should consider a genre that has already said enough (and in this case doesn’t say anything new). Or don’t you believe in the objectivity of things? Well, then keep living in your fantasy world and think that everything revolves around you, and you’ll end up like the loser who made the song we’re discussing. PS: for me, the year, the musical structure, the musical history, and what the aforementioned artist wants to say are rather REAL things that allow me to draw a fairly objective conclusion; if you don’t think so... tough luck.

Maybe I understood what Smoker meant, so I’m trying to respond to marco85 and jettojet: Smoker absolutely did not speak about the innovativeness of Satriani and Petrucci; he simply stated that they are much more guitar heroes than Malmsteen, meaning they have a knowledge of guitar use that goes beyond that of the "usual" metal guitar as in Malmsteen. PS: even Rhapsody invented Symphonic Epic Hollywood Metal if Malmsteen did the same. I don't think it's enough to do metal covers of classical pieces to define oneself as inventors of a new musical genre. Then, to clarify, if it were true, it would only be a sub-genre of metal, which is a sub-genre of rock, and I emphasize IF IT WERE TRUE, because if we were to follow this rumor, then any band makes music in their own way and invents a "new musical genre," becoming "innovative," "essential," "for connoisseurs," and various nonsense.

"beach boys," I don't think my part is small, since I don't just listen to one genre but enjoy everything that is original and creative. Regarding "antimo_d," I agree with your position, but in my opinion, it’s harder to determine what is artistic and what isn’t in your situation. For example, even we are expressing our ideas right now, but, at least for me, I don't consider this debate "artistic."

For the rest, I totally agree with Smoker.
